AnElephantCant help but acknowledge
He is the luckiest hairy mammoth in the world
Because he has a daughter
Who he thinks walks on water
She is a perfect and wonderful girl

When she was 3 she was more grown up and sensible
Than this daft Elephant has ever been
Not in a bad way
But in a happy and glad way
She is the best person that he has ever seen

It is so fortunate she takes after her mother
A beautiful quite remarkable woman
And less like her dad
That would be rather sad
Because he’s a pachyderm and not really too human

He remembers her first day at school
His heart felt like it went through a wringer
She brought him great joy
She could never annoy
He loved being wrapped round her wee finger

He recalls she attended Le Lycee in France
And when they were robbed in a camp site in Italy
When she flew 1,000 miles
Just to give him a smile
When he was hurting and missing her bitterly

She stayed with him for a short time in Glasgow
While she looked for a place of her own
Now that was a treat
He would cook she would eat
Whatever he dished up without a moan or a groan!

He remembers teaching her to ride a bicycle
And so much more with no tears or regrets
Though she is now quite the lady
She is always his baby
Some things AnElephant never forgets
