AnElephantCant resist
The Friday Fictioneers
He means no offence
But a couple of friends
Say come make a fool of yourself here
So this is his very first offering
He has seen that the others have class
If he looks like a hack
He just won’t come back
And as Bob says the first will be last
The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on a picture prompt (below).
That’s it.

Great Minds Think …….
So, that makes it official, it’s on the fridge calendar. Ten years on Tuesday!
Wow, I don’t believe it, ten years together.
Ten fabulous years. OK, we maybe haven’t achieved everything we dreamed of, but it has been pretty great,
Almost 7 years here, in the house of our dreams. Where we planned to start a family ….
We make the perfect partnership. We like the same food, the same hobbies, the same music. We even think alike. I bet right now we are both thinking exactly the same thing, how lucky we are!
I need to leave now. I deserve better than this.
Very nice. I think you should keep it up!

You tell a sad story in an amusing way. I like the way you balance bitter and sweet – and certainly there are real life couples, like the speakers in your story, who see their relationship very differently!
Please, Elephant, unpack your trunk and stick around, don’t forget to come back next week. 🙂

Thank you for your encouragement and kind words.
I will certainly be back, assuming the muse allows it.

What a sad story! I too assumed she would be leaving – but now you’ve made me wonder….. Perhaps if they take off their stone masks and talk there may be hope for them yet… I like your interpretation of the picture.
Loved this FF! Well done. I often read the stories but have yet to try one. 🙂

Thank you, MyBeautifulFriend, for your kind words.
Glad you liked the story.
It is for each to interpret as they see it.

Hi elephant, welceom to the Fictioneers! I like how you capture two heads looking at the same thing from very different perspectives. It took me a while to decide that this was two different people – maybe you could have indicated that more clearly earlier on. but I like how they seem to be going in the same direction and then you twist it at the end. Looking forward to more from you in the future.

Thank you, and interesting that you assume the lady was leaving.

Dear Anelephant…,
Your story rang true and hit home. Life has a way of locking you into arrangements and sometimes there is no easy way out, a fact that you captured perfectly.
Aloha,
Doug

Dear Elephant.
I hereby welcome you to Friday Fictioneers. I hope we’ll be reading more of you. Loved the intro. Very clever verse. And your story…isn’t it amazing how miscommunication works? Nice one.
See you next week.

Thanks, Rochelle, this is a departure from my usual mince, as you will see.
And yes, of course, communication tends to break down all too easily.
