Superbowl XLVII New Orleans – San Francisco 49ers v Baltimore Ravens

He’s in the US on Superbowl Sunday
He does not travel far
The nearest Sports Bar
The game lasts almost until Monday
It’s the climax of the whole Football season
The Cup Final the World Championship
When the best two sides
At last collide
And the fans all eat spiced chips and dip
This year it takes place in New Orleans
A French lady that AnElephant loves
Though he has not seen her
Since the terrible Katrina
She wears her best hat and elegant lace gloves
On one side are the famed 49ers
From San Francisco AnElephant’s favourite place
They look big and strong
Nothing can possibly go wrong
They think they’ll win with style and with grace
Against them the Ravens from Baltimore
A city that he has never seen
He does not know much
About tactics and such
Bet he hears they are a very good team
Now Football is not Rugby or Soccer
AnElephant finds the rules somewhat mysterious
But he does not care
He is happy to share
A wonderful part of the Great American Experience

Who thinks the best thing
about the Superbowl
Is that Americans forget
As they watch the ball
Who’s Red and who’s Blue

Though he doesn’t know the rules
And San Fran lost to his great dismay

We were at a Super Bowl dinner when the lights went out just after half time, so we came home. 😦
