The Tree Musketeers

I think that I shall never see

I think that I shall never see

AnElephantCant hide his enjoyment
There are so many things make him pleased
Yo-yos and Pawpaws
Cuckoos and Crab Claws
But there are few things as wonderful as Trees

Some trees have quite spiky sharp needles
They are Evergreens also called Conifers
They keep their leaves on
No matter the season
There are Scotch Pines and Spruces and Firs

Other trees have broad flatter foliage
We describe these handsome dudes as Deciduous
At Autumn’s first cough
Leaves start to fall off
They await spring with a quiet air of wistfulness

A Poem Lovely as a Tree

A Poem Lovely as a Tree

Some are graceful and elegant like the Willow
But the Oak and the Chestnut are more sturdy
The Birch and the Beech
Have strong branches that reach
Way up high safe for the nest of a birdy

Trees have trunks and branches and twiggies
And roots that are twisty and curled
Their bark hides wee bugs and beasties
Who become woodpeckers’ feasties
And they provide great cover for a smart sneaky squirrel

But the best thing about trees is their magic
This is a process that is photosynthetic
They use carbon dioxide
Then oxygen they provide
For us to breathe this is quite synergetic

I think I shall never see
A poem as lovely as a tree
    Is a thought I share.
    When they are bare
    They are like cathedrals
    Guardians and angels
    Working their magic
    So beatific.
    AnElephant’s poem is nearly
    as lovely as a tree.

Your poem is wonderful, a great and clever tribute to the wide variety of trees (which I adore), and the photographs are also a treat, excellent examples to go with your words, thank you! 🙂
