AnElephantCant understand a rainbow
Though he knows it’s the wonderfullest thing you can find
He has no real clues
Observing the hues
Maybe because he is colour blind
It is perhaps the strangest of all nature’s wonders
Created by sunbeams shining through
Tiny perfect raindrops
Whenever rain stops
Although in Scotland it’s true these times are few
Red Orange Yellow Green
Blue Indigo Violet
This Magnificent Seven
Transport us into Heaven
And there is no earthly reason why not
They encompass a myriad of magic
Most of which AnElephantCant comprehend
Is there something beyond
Like a laughing Leprechaun
AnElephant believes there’s a pot of gold at the end
Sometimes it’s the smallest of arcs
Sometimes a crescent or stunning semi-circle
The shape does not matter
The colours may scatter
It is always the most beautiful miracle
AnElephant is still a romantic
He considers this marvel in the sky
He then wonders why
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow Why oh why can’t I?
this is a sweet post, Elephant

AnElephantCant find a rhyme for rainbow
So perhaps he’ll try arc-en-ciel
An arc in the sky
Where bumble bees fly
If they’re French they’ll buzz off to make miel

This is wonderful. I love your poem. Truly delightful verses on the colors of the rainbow. Emma’s picture suits your words perfectly! I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing anelephantcant fly over the rainbow, that would be most interesting! 🙂

AnElephantCant fly over a rainbow
Or perhaps do you think maybe could he?
No that’s quite absurd
He’s not a bluebird
And he has not got red shoes like our Judy

I have often seen a rainbow
Even to the end I did go
In a field full of corn
Was no leprechaun
And there was no pot of dough

AnElephantCant help wondering
So please tell him this good friend
In the field where you sought
That magical pot
Are you sure you were at the right end?

I feel like I’m a bit of a dong
I think I have to say
I didn’t go the right way
So the end that I went to was wrong
