North Beach Afternoon – Michael Rodman, Union Square, Alcatraz from Cable Car

AnElephantCant think of anywhere better
Than San Francisco to spend his last days
It sits on the Bay
What more can he say
This city continues to amaze

He has breakfast in California sunshine
Orange juice and a decadent croissant
He sits in Union Square
With flowers in his hair
AnElephant feels like he is in a great song

All around him the artists are showing
He talks to a talented man
AnElephant‘s says please
Can he feature these
Michael tells him of course you can

Then it’s Fisherman’s Wharf for a ramble
He sees a tall ship with masts and thinks oh!
It can hardly get smoother
The beautiful Balclutha
Is built in 1886 in Glasgow

He takes a trip round the bay in a neat boat
Passes underneath the Golden Gate
Then round Alcatraz
The hour goes so fast
AnElephant thinks this trip is great

He sees all sorts of wonderful creatures
Porpoises frolic happily in the waves
Fleet-flying cormorant
Prehistoric pelican
And seals who gaze at him amazed

So as he gets psyched to head homewards
AnElephant is one happy boy
San Fran is a jewel
A city so cool
It once again fills him with joy

It’s sad that I’ve never had the chance to truly explore San Fran….but with your spectacular descriptions and photos of your adventure…it’s almost like I have. Thank you for sharing! 🙂

    • AnElephantCant believe lovely Christina
Has never rocked to San Fran’s cool rhythm
      If he’d known in advance
      He’d have taken a chance
And smuggled her in the bag he had with him

I’ve only been to San Fransisco once but I loved it. Sort of reminded me of home [Melbourne].

Just wonderful. San Francisco, the city, should pay you for your most descriptive posts. They make a person want to visit this magical place you describe and photograph so well. As always love your rhymes. My memories of San Francisco include some of the very best experiences I’ve ever had, so I can well appreciate your appreciation for same! Much love, Penny

I hope that AnElephant has had fun
Over there and out in the sun
    With the Golden Gate Bridge
    Sat steadily on it’s ridge
Now that your trip over there is done

  9. Thanks for taking me to San Francisco with your words. It is a beautiful city, I’ve been there numerous times, though it seems like a lifetime ago. Great post my friend.
