Leaving San Francisco Blues

Leaving San Francisco Blues by Phil Burns

Leaving San Francisco Blues by Phil Burns

Union Square the last morning
He breakfasts on orange juice and croissants
But something is wrong
The sunshine is gone
San Francisco softly weeps

The artists have packed up and gone home
The sky is cloudy grey and low
Can it possibly know
It is time he must go
San Francisco sadly weeps

In one hour he is on his way
To the home where he has not been
It lies so long unseen
Except in his dream
San Francisco bitterly weeps

All too soon he is back in Scotland
Where one magical moment fills the void
With unconfined joy
He sees his beautiful boy
San Francisco forgivingly weeps

A new classic for San Francisco. Just need the music, this is great! Especially the ending with your beautiful boy! Much love, xx

    • Well, just get your harpoon out of your dirty red bandana and start blowing sad while AnElephant trumpets the blues!
Thank you, it is an inspirational city with inspirational folk.
The first thing that AnElephant noticed when he arrived way back in December was how wonderful the people were.

I bet your beautiful boy has really missed you and was over the moon to see you again. My beautiful boy is staying at the weekend. He fills my heart with joy.

  6. Alastair is so right – you will have beautiful memories to sustain you and to come home to your ‘beautiful boy’…. What could be better? 🙂

The elephant has packed his trunk
    And jetted home to Jack
    He cant believe
    He has had to leave
    The sunshine on his back.

    But California’s loss
    Of a pachyderm who rhymes
    Is Scotland’s gain
    In spite of rain
It’s great to get Jack time.
