Mediterranean Medicament

AnElephantCant deny he’s ecstatic
So delighted il parle Francais instead
His Boeing 737
Transports him to heaven
He is back on the shores of the Med

His first stop is in sun-kissed Languedoc
A little place called Valras Plage
The beach stretches for miles
AnElephant smiles
It is more relaxing than a hot stone massage

He strolls on the pier in the morning
The forecast rain is nowhere to be seen
The weather is fine
He basks in sunshine
The sea is brilliantly aquamarine

He drives lazily through the Camargue
Where flamingoes alight in étangs*
His eyes light up to see
The horses run free
His heart feels those familiar pangs

He goes gloriously off course in Marseille
His visit is still all too brief
From Notre Dame de la Garde
Like a perfect postcard
The view shows Le Vieux Port and famous Chateau d’If

Then onwards to his first destination
Past Cassis where Scottish Colourists drew inspiration
To beautiful Bandol
Which he happily can call
The most perfect spot in all of creation

*etang – a large pool, a lagoon

    Is quite enchanting

    AnElephant managed to escape Scotland
And get away by using his brain
    I like what you said
    A trip to the Med
Avoiding the snow and the rain
