AnElephantCant stay away from Bandol
It is his favourite place in the civilised world
A Mediterranean jewel
So warm and so cool
Just the thought of it makes his wee tootsies curl

His hotel on a hill is Les Galets
Which translates as small stones or pebbles
Far in the east lie high mountains
Towards Centre Ville* flowered fountains
AnElephant soon forgets all his troubles

The marina is home to an armada
Sea breezes rattle ropes off the masts
Under a parasol’s shade
With refreshing lemonade
He watches les vieux play boules in la place

School children at sea: Statue in town square: Cannon at end of pier

The promenade today is host to the market
With produce from all over Var Region
Cheese ham and good wine
Olives and nuts from the Pine
Exotic fare for a boring Glaswegian

Once again he is drawn to the water
It continues to exert a strong pull
The pier goes on and on
To a medieval cannon
And les enfants learn sailing at school

A magnificent 50-metre break-water
Separates the Med from Renecros Bay
A broad crescent of sand
Creates an idyllic strand
Where like Lou Reed AnElephant spends a Perfect Day

small observational pieces or other such non-sense.

    This certainly looks ideal
for a place that to us would appeal
    that a bulldog with mace
    could take up his place
at the table of Noah and Mable.

  6. Loved the verse and the pictures of a lovely blue Mediterranean. My post earlier this month also is about my wanderings in Antalya on the Mediterranean coast.

    AnElephant certainly likes his journeys
    Enjoying yourself and having fun
    From America to the Med
    The joys that you said
Basking in the heat and the sun
