Agitated by Phil Burns

Agitated by Phil Burns

AnElephantCant stand extraneous noises
Perhaps it’s the size of his lug holes
iPhone and iPod
Mp3 oh my word
He wants to flush the whole lot down the plug hole

When AnElephant is on public transport
He is assaulted by other folks music
The noise rattles inside us
Causing constant tinnitus
Is it just him or does it also make you sick

At one time everybody wore headphones
So only their own brains got scrambled
Now this is no lie
They sit down nearby
And blow your head off without any preamble

AnElephant isn’t always too patient
Some situations make his big ears twitch
There are folk who make noises
Burst eardrums with their voices
He would be happier if they had an Off switch

It's busy, I have to shout by Phil Burns

It’s busy, I have to shout by Phil Burns

They don’t worry if they give you headaches
They don’t care if you react with shock
He is not malicious
But he’d find it delicious
If the whole bunch were infected with iPox

He doesn’t really mean to be crabbit
But some things drive him up the pole
In civilisation
To reduce frustration
Some dudes need a volume control

The world is rapidly changing
Increasingly the noises pollute
So he says Ya Boo
To employers like Yahoo
There is no way that he wants to commute

Personal Note:
As a user of BT Yahoo Mail, AnElephant is dismayed at the recent ‘upgrades’ to the system.
He wonders if the company is adopting the Microsoft model whereby the time-consuming and clearly non-productive in-house testing of the software is eliminated and the end-user is left to cheerfully report defects.

Look up misophonia..sounds like an elephant may have a mild case..Je promets de toujours chuchoter à un éléphant

    • Comme tu es gentille, Hautecinq, mais there is nothing mild about AnElephant’s dislike of other people’s intrusive racket!
Merci pour ta visite, et si tu reviens aujourd’hui tu verras qu’UnElephant ne parle qu’Ecossais!

That’s one amazing graphic. Wow, certain sets the mood for your poem! Well done. The insensitivity of the human race today (as far as common courtesies go when out and about) is simple dreadful. The lack of caring about the person sitting near you anywhere in a public place is of epidemic proportions. Your post is to a point and nicely done!

  3. RoSy says:

That 1st pic really goes well with your post today!

I don’t mind the music. But – if I can hear it – it can’t be good for their eardrums.
The phone thing is annoying. I don’t care to hear a person’s phone conversation. It’s funny that sometimes they looks around like – what are you looking at – this is a personal call. Say what???
And – it seems like those conversations are louder than the people to people conversations too.

  4. Willow says:

Hee hee! Love it! Totally agree with you. I love music, but, that awful noise from other peoples headphones certainly isn’t music to my ears! Love Phil’s artwork as well.

  5. emmylgant says:

    Emmy va parler tout doucement
    Pour ne pas irriter UnElephant
You are off on quite a tear
    Albeit in a beautiful rime
Still it is a bit of a scare
And I wonder if I should mime

  6. Rhonda L. Brockmeyer says:

Really? People don’t use headphones? I hate iPhone speaker quality. I always use headphones and only see others do that as well. Weird.
Hope your ears are better. But this made me laugh. Thank you for that. 🙂

  7. utesmile says:

It is in the London underground the same, you have to listen to the music from the person next to you, or a conversation on the phone, which you do not want to know……. I don’t mind reading hte paper with someone next to me though 🙂

  8. Alastair says:

I, myself listen with headphones for my music
But only I hear it so others can hear their voice
I think it is very rude
    That some gal or dude
Has to have everybody listen to their noise

But some people love the sound of their voice
And the cacophony makes them oh so proud
If I were so very rich
I would fit them with a switch
So they would never again be very loud

Go on, say something, even if it's rude!
