AnElephantCant Handle Chores

AnElephantCant enjoy household chores
He finds them so tediously time-consuming
He prefers to be
Out talking to a tree
Or listening to spring tulips blooming

Some tasks can get lost in translation
AnElephant now knows this is the hard bit
In the UK a Hoover
Is what we manoeuvre
To vacuum the crumbs off the carpet

He does not like bright shiny surfaces
He may see his face there in error
He can get a fright
From that terrible sight
On reflection he’d rather polish a mirror

He throws dirty socks into a hamper
And hangs his coat up on a hook
He prepares his own dinner
He doesn’t want to get thinner
And peanuts are quite easy to cook

He doesn’t like cleaning the windows
It causes his poor trunk to cramp
You may be surprised
At one thing he tries
AnElephant is always polishing a lamp

Because he wants to find a magic genie
Who will grant him the standard three wishes
One and two needn’t be heard
But if he is granted the third
He will never again have to iron the dishes
