I miss her

I miss her

I miss her

I miss her in the morning
Slipping quietly from our bed
I miss her gentle touches
And the tender words she said

I miss her in the evening
When we’d relax and watch TV
I miss the pain I often felt
Which she’d kiss away for me

I miss her in the night time
When I am cold and on my own
And all her warm affection
I miss now she is gone

I miss her in the winter
When the sky is overcast
Snowflakes tumble to the ground
To hide the broken past

I miss her in my faint heart
Which weeps forever in the dark
Standing bare in solitude
A tree in an empty park

I miss her in the knowledge
She left because I am so flawed
Alone now like a pebble
On a lonely beach untrod

This truly touched my heart. I felt love and sadness. You made me all misty eyed. I second everyone else, as when I was done reading it, the first thing that I said to myself,’best piece ever.’

Really moving and hope it is just a poem and not very close to real-life. Second Alastair that it is one of your best

  8. What a beautifully sad poem. I was thinking she had died but then you tell us that she left you and you think it is your own fault. She has left a beautiful elephant alone….. 🙂

I’m not going to spoil this with a rhyme.

This is a magnificent piece, my friend. The feeling in this, you can almost feel the tears on the face. It is truly one of your best pieces. Thank you for sharing it with us
