I miss her in the morning
Slipping quietly from our bed
I miss her gentle touches
And the tender words she said
I miss her in the evening
When we’d relax and watch TV
I miss the pain I often felt
Which she’d kiss away for me
I miss her in the night time
When I am cold and on my own
And all her warm affection
I miss now she is gone
I miss her in the winter
When the sky is overcast
Snowflakes tumble to the ground
To hide the broken past
I miss her in my faint heart
Which weeps forever in the dark
Standing bare in solitude
A tree in an empty park
I miss her in the knowledge
She left because I am so flawed
Alone now like a pebble
On a lonely beach untrod
This truly touched my heart. I felt love and sadness. You made me all misty eyed. I second everyone else, as when I was done reading it, the first thing that I said to myself,’best piece ever.’
How very sweet of you, m’lady.
This piece really seems to have struck a chord with so many of you.
AnElephant is gratified, thank you.
This is so emotional and sad, yet beautifully written! You really miss her!
Happy you are sad, thank you for your praise, much appreciated.
AnElephant me brise le coeur avec ce poeme qui est tellement beau.
Mais non, ton coeur reste intact.
Et merci pour les mots gentils.
How lovely! I hope I would be missed this much, and for all those same reasons. 🙂
AnElephant is sure that is the case with one as sweet as you!
Really moving and hope it is just a poem and not very close to real-life. Second Alastair that it is one of your best
Very kind of you once again.
AnElephant admits only to a long and eventful life.
A truly beautiful poem.
For a beautiful lady.
Sometimes we smile regardless, memories are sweet mixtures.
A beautiful piece – but – so sad.
AnElephant dances with glee.
He makes RoSy sad!
Seriously, glad it reached you, and thank you.
What a beautifully sad poem. I was thinking she had died but then you tell us that she left you and you think it is your own fault. She has left a beautiful elephant alone….. 🙂
Oh, MyBeautifulFriend, it is just a poem from a long and chequered life, not to be taken too much to heart.
And what sane lady can ever tolerate AnElephant’s peripatetic lifestyle, where every day is a new adventure?
I love every days being a new adventure! Who wouldn’t? Especially with Anelephant who writes poetry, for company! 🙂
So tenderly written my dear friend….. xxx
Praise from Roxi for a poem!
Wow, AnElephant is humbled.
I’m not going to spoil this with a rhyme.
This is a magnificent piece, my friend. The feeling in this, you can almost feel the tears on the face. It is truly one of your best pieces. Thank you for sharing it with us
Thank you, Alastair, AnElephant is grateful for your kind words.
And for your lack of a rhyme!
O Lovely poem. I empathize with you.
AnElephant is touched by your words but writes from life experience, not immediacy.
Thank you for visiting and for caring.
