It isn’t easy to love AnElephant
When he thinks he’s a butterfly
He goes where he pleases
As if carried on breezes
He is more likely to laugh than to cry
He wanders the globe like a trade wind
He doesn’t stay long in one place
He calls no place home
He is content to roam
Loving everyone not ever one face
AnElephant was settled a long time ago
In what seems like a previous life
The lines round his eyes
Tell it is no surprise
But he had children and a quite perfect wife
But times change and he changes faster
He moves and they do not go with him
The past is long gone
He travels alone
He dances to his own unique rhythm
A pretty lady may feed him fresh peanuts
She may even tickle his ear
He gives her fair warning
By tomorrow morning
It is certain he will not be here
It isn’t easy to love AnElephant
When he thinks he’s a butterfly
He goes where he pleases
As if carried on breezes
But in the darkness you may soft hear him cry
AnElephant-butterfly is quite whimsical
An image, perhaps mythical,
definitely magical.
Aimer UnElephant c’est facile
Mais c’est plus difficile
D’adorer le papillon
Qui pourtant est aussi brillant.

Well it is jolly nice of you to say so, but it is a hard task to continue.
When every day is an adventure it can be arduous for the non-Elephants around him.

A sad poem. AnElephant will bounce back. Elephants are made of sturdy stuff. And I’ve met this one. I know what he’s like. He’s great and fun.

Hope you are settling in a bit. Oh do ‘believe’ , while we may have to age, we most definately do not have to grow up!

Beautiful & sad. Flows nicely – as all your writings do.
My frown is upsidedown that an elephant cries softly in darkness.

Mibbees AnElephant thinks he is Peter Pan because he has big ears?

Beautiful but sad poem. Butterflies will fade and die, if not left to flutter by.
