AnElephantCant go a day without swimming
He just loves to splash in the Med
He doesn’t care if it’s deep
Or if the sea shore is steep
He is used to being in over his head
He lies in the sand getting sun tanned
He paddles out to the raft in the bay
The breast stroke or crawl
No matter at all
He creates more waves than three crazed hippopotami
He has swum the Indian and Pacific Oceans
He has survived the bleak Atlantic
He likes to float
Like a clinker built boat
But alas he has the buoyancy of a brick
In his swimsuit he is an impressive figure
Perhaps not svelte but he does cut a dash
At his local pool
Even if it is full
He empties it with ease and one sensational splash
He can travel for miles underwater
Like a Leatherback or Loggerhead Sea Turtle
But don’t be deceived
He still has to breathe
So he uses his own built-in all-purpose snorkel
At the local gala he enters all races
But for some reason he invariably flunks
Please do not act dumb
You know this must come
He only has half of a pair of swim trunks
Ba boom!
Oh come on, admit it, you were waiting for it!!!!!
Emmy begs to differ,
It is with amazing grace
That AnElephant goes splish splash
Across the pool makes a dash
He doesn’t sink like a boulder.

AnElephantCant be luckier, despite his losing streak, to swim every day. I miss the Atlantic – it isn’t bleak on this side – but can’t get there this summer. 😦
