Unkind Mankind

Mankind by Phil Burns

Mankind by Phil Burns

AnElephantCant dislike any life form
Insect or bird plant or human
Arachnid or reptile
Those whose trunks are prehensile
Good grief man he even likes women

When it comes to mankind he is happy
To meet each person with a hug and a grin
He doesn’t mind young or old
From a land hot or cold
He sees more than the colour of the skin

He has no interest in a person’s religion
To him that is an individual choice
He does believe if
We live and let live
We can sing the same song with one voice

He has great respect for all cultures
He can travel and cause no offence
It would be a great shame
If we were all the same
His motto is vive la difference

He knows that this poem is quite dull
He usually tries to say something exciting
So he cuts to the chase
He thinks it’s a disgrace
That we find so many excuses for fighting

Do we really hate each other with such passion
Over religion or is it all about money
AnElephant is sad
He knows it’s quite bad
When even he can’t say something that’s funny

  1. Can I repost this poem again on my blog as your work of course?
I really want to since it has the same name as my blog, unkindmankind.blogspot.com
I hope AnElephantCant reject my request

This is well written and true, your words aren’t boring they are piercing and real. And so unfortunate for all of us! xo

I agree with you. Fighting over who’s God is the best, who has the biggest gun and who has who round for dinner. One day … though not in our life times … war will be a thing of the past
