AnElephantCant understand some French concepts
Like the waiter in his local restaurant
You try catching his eye
He surveys the sky
It is not clear if he has just lost the floor plan
When he serves you he is friendly and charming
By your second visit you are his lifelong friend
But it is still way too hard
To get quickly served
Are they enforcing your diet or trying to drive you insane
AnElephant decides to treat himself to new supercool sunwear
He sees endless racks of shirts and shorts very French very nice
All marked 30% off
But he can only laugh
There is no indication of the original price
In the supermarket it is disappointingly similar
He sees fromages in glorious array
With three prices together
Then stretching forever
Are a million cheeses with no clue what you pay
AnElephant already spoke about road signs
Which seem to indicate the general direction
At the next carrefour*
He is hopelessly insecure
The lack of info just drives him to distraction
But there are so many things that he loves here
AnElephant can list ten thousand delights one by one
He becomes laissez-faire
He finds it too hard to care
Because at least there is a concept of the sun
*Cross-roads
Fun in the sun! Definitely the best way to go! 🙂 xo

AnElephant is pretty relaxed about different cultures and concepts, as you are all too aware.
He lives a fairly stress-free existence, happy to adapt to the mores of his hosts.
And, in any case, confusion is his normal state!

Enjoy your holiday in my country. Hope things get a little less perplexing with time!

Not a holiday, dear lady, but a permanent and long delayed return.
And your country?
Really?
AnElephant has always considered that it belongs to him alone!
But thank you for your visit and your good wishes.
He is confident that there is sufficient beauty and peanuts to share.

Working is a relative term.
Writing, yes.
Enjoying the culture, the cuisine, la Med, yes.
Earning, no.
Caring, even less!
Happy?
As a pig in poo!

Keep telling me about France – the good bits and the less good! I soak it all up and hope to visit next year. 🙂

The spare room will be swept out and clean hay put down!
You are always welcome, just don’t forget the peanuts!
