Sea View – Alastair’s Photo Fiction

AnElephantCant stay away from the sea side
He just loves to have a wee splash
When he sees Alastair’s pic
He thinks double quick
And decides to have a bit of a bash

This is a weekly invitation to write a short piece of fiction (c. 150 words) based on a photo prompt (below) provided by Alastair.

The link takes you to some excellent stuff by excellent writers.
Or you can hang about here and read AnElephant’s humble offering.
It is brilliant!
Well, his Mummy thinks so.

Sea View

The apartment is perfect.
Well, just about.
It is nearly big enough.
They can almost afford it.
It is in the area they want.
And it has a balcony.
With a sea view!
Not a very good sea view, admittedly, not one you can enjoy while you sit not quite seeing the sun because of the building opposite.
An office block.
Block – how very apt!
And it is empty all weekend.
But the sea view!
If you lean out just a bit, well, quite a lot, there it is.
The ocean.
So she leans out, laughing, excited.
He bends and catches her ankle.
The apartment is perfect.

I would like to think that just maybe, he catches her ankle to save her from falling, because they are so in love, but that’s the dreamer in me I guess! Nicely written. xo

I love the way you close the loops in your stories. The apartment is perfect… I am thinking life insurance… but that’s what I do with your stories: You give me a running start, a complete frame with connect the dots and a mystery number revealed at the end in 100 wrds. Then, I embroider whatever I feel like in my mind…or not.
Formidable, comme toujours. Tu es l’As, sans aucun doute.

”not one you can enjoy while you sit not quite seeing” and ”If you lean out just a bit, well, quite a lot, there it is” got to be my favorite lines as they give you things to think about.
