AnElephantCant walk through a doorway
Without wondering if things get better or worse
And what is more
He can’t walk through that door
Unless he remembers to open it first
But is every new doorway an exit
Or the way into something new and exciting
Does he show hesitation
Or just kick the gate in
To see what is cool and inviting
It may be the entrance to a whole new adventure
And you know he tries to have one every day
So with no trepidation
And no time for waiting
He saunters in quite insouciantly
Now AnElephant is not easily confused (laughter)
But he finds it difficult to handle keys bolts and locks
The question is posed
What marvel can be enclosed
He can’t guess so he lifts up his trunk and just knocks
Some doors are fancy and some doors are wooden
Some gates are constructed of wondrously wrought iron
Some are hooped some are barred
Some are slightly ajar
Some door knockers are stunningly awe inspiring
Some doors open inwards and some open outwards
Some are divided and open down the middle in two parts
Some lead to great happiness
Some try to shut out distress
And one is closed to keep AnElephant forever far from her heart
I was having fun opening & closing doors until I came to the last line 😦

“Sometimes we stare so long at a door that is closing that we see too late the one that is open.”
Wonderfully written as always…and no blood this time. At least I hope 🙂
