Bird Brain – Sunday Photo Fiction

AnElephantCant be nosey or cheeky
But he feels that today he must do a little digging
He asks a polite question
Does not expect a confession
But is Al getting paid commission by these flapping pigeons

This is a weekly invitation to write a short piece of fiction (c. 150 words) based on a photo prompt (below) provided by Alastair.
Follow the link to see a flock of super stories nesting in different parts of Al’s aviary.
But first of all please read this feather-brained effort by a land-bound Elephant.
Oh, and if anyone actually likes pigeons, please feel free to view:

Bird Brain

She begs him not to go up on the roof, at least until the rain stops and the wind dies down.
But he apparently must, just must, fix the aerial before the match starts.
He scoffs at her concerns.
Does he really believe he can fly like those wretched pigeons that seem to be always around?
Heart in mouth, she hears him scrambling about overhead.
She loves him, and knows that he loves her, but he is an idiot!
She hears the crash and sees the hole appear in the ceiling as it cracks open under his weight.
When he struggles down a few minutes later, nursing a very sore leg, he is aghast to see the tile embedded in her skull.

Ack! Poor lady! I don’t know about you, but if the ceiling was cracking – I would not be standing underneath it! The ending took me by surprise!

Creepy ending, but a good one!

Ha! Great ending. I wasn’t expecting her to have a tile in her skull. And neither was she! Nicely done.
