AnElephantCant wear a suit of armour
He is not sure if he is chivalrously challenged or not
Is he piously able
To sit at the Round Table
During the halcyon days of the court of Camelot

Can he be the strong right hand of King Arthur
Who magically ascends to his ancient throne
He does as he is asked
Performs one surprisingly simple task
Extricates the great sword from the stubborn but selectively sticky stone

When the great Battle of Camlann is over
Arthur’s kingdom destroyed and no longer under rule
The last knight Sir Bedivere
Casts Excalibur back to Avalon mere
To a hand clothed in white samite mystic wonderful

His favourite character from days of yore is mystical Merlin
Arthur’s mentor who is sage as a wise wizard can be
He guides him so well
With pointy hat and magical spell
But sadly spends eternity trapped like a sap inside an evergreen tree

The saddest chapter in these extraordinary exploits
Concerns sweet but misguided cute Queen Guinevere
If you please her at the jousts
You can win a TV or a house
Nevertheless she retires to a nunnery with a sorrowful tear

Of all the knights of course Sir Galahad is the purest
Sir Gareth and Sir Percival battle bellicosely but merrily
Gawain ain’t too keen
On the knight wearing Green
Sir Kay is tough but his name is quite girly

AnElephant imagines himself riding with Sir Lancelot
Accompanying him on some noble nerve-jangling knightly quest
Not for the Holy Grail
He is impure so must fail
He prefers to rescue a delectable delightful damsel who is not too dramatically distressed
