the difference

AnElephant and a Bird by Marion Gottschlag

AnElephant and a Bird by Marion Gottschlag

the difference

AnElephant says hey little bird
do you think we can be friends
I don’t think so you’ve no feathers
you have tusks and a nose that bends

AnElephant says hey slithering snake
do you want to come and play
I don’t think so you have four legs
I am green and you are grey

AnElephant says hey fabulous fish
can I frolic with you in the sea
I don’t think so you don’t have fins
And you don’t breathe the same as me

AnElephant says hey buzzy bee
can we stop and smell the roses
I don’t think so you are too big
you will crush them with your proboscis

AnElephant says hey someone please
please explain your twisted preference
why does everybody hate everyone else
because of every tiny difference

This poem is inspired by a post by AnElephant’s dearest friend Penny:
