The Pond – Sunday Photo Fiction

AnElephantCant murder somebody each week
Though he does feel that perhaps he must warn you
On the occasions he does
It gives him a buzz
To make his unfortunate victim sweet Anja

This is a weekly invitation to write a short piece of fiction (c. 150 words) based on a photo prompt (below) provided by Alastair.
Just click on the link to peruse a perfect pond of peremptorily penned prophetic parables.
But please first read AnElephant’s puddleful of prose.

The Pond

He walks slowly around the edge of the pond, remembering the last time he was here.
The last time they visited this idyllic spot where they enjoyed so many happy hours together.
The last night he spent with her.
The night when, hearing her delighted shrieks at the fish jumping in the shallow waters, he realised how much he loved her.
The night she told him she was leaving.
The night she said she was going back home to the other side of the world.
As he reeled in disbelief at her words, she was rummaging through her bag.
I wonder if I have anything to feed them?
Well, he thinks, I answered that question, didn’t I?

There you go again bashing my neighbor Anja. AnElephant must remember that it in life it is a lot safer with the Anja on your side. She has quite an army you know.

All the fish will surely get sick, the number of bodies that get thrown in rivers around here…

  9. AnElephantCant kill Anja, she’s awesome! 🙂 Still, a great story. I wouldn’t want to visit that pond after that, when the fish have gotten a taste for us.

hahahaha Third times the charm….at least I think this is the third end of me. You made fish food out of me? *sigh* I did have to laugh because out of all my written deaths, I do fear drowning. AnElephant might want to keep an eye out for a bit of revenge……..
