Writer – Sunday Photo Fiction

AnElephantCant always sit at a desk
Though nothing is ever quite out of his reach
He has all sorts of junk
Which he click clacks with his trunk
But he prefers to amble off to the beach

This is a weekly invitation to write a short piece of fiction (c. 150 words) based on a photo prompt (below) provided by Alastair.
Just click on the link to find some mentally relaxing stories in response to this week’s excellent prompt.
But please cast an eye over AnElephant’s worriedly wired words first.

Writer

I am a writer.
I write for three reasons.
It is my job.
I do it for money.
Short stories.
Magazine pieces.
E-books.
But it is also my hobby.
I have a blog.
I post four or five pieces a week.
Poetry, political comment, light humour.
I am versatile.
I also write rhymes, poems and stories as gifts for family and friends.
I have written millions of stuff for my beloved grandson!
Lastly, and most importantly, writing is my obsession.
I have to write.
If, for any reason, I pass a day without writing, I get stressed.
I feel as though my head is full, that it might explode.
Then I tend to waken in the night and write manically.
But, worse by far, is writer’s block.
This has only happened a handful of times.
Well, six, to be exact.
I sit staring at a blank page and nothing happens.
My brain is frozen.
I have a deskful of executive toys, stress relievers, gimmicks.
None of them help at all.
Fortunately I have a solution, which might not be for everyone but it works for me.
I go into the city and find a MacDonald’s or similar.
I choose a family and follow them home.
And then I find inspiration.

Such a clever one is anelephant. Leaving interpretation to the reader. But being an excellent writer, you, of course, are very skilled at taking the reader where you would like him or her to go (should they but know it)! 🙂 xo

    Lovely opening verse as usual.
Then what anelephant does with the family depends on its mood?
You entertain, scare, inspire and write thought provoking posts. Wonderful writing.

Yes. You definitely are a versatile writer. And a good one. Great story . I have come to expect a creepy ending but I never know where you are taking me.
And AnElephantCan always make me smile if not laugh with his opening verse. So creative and funny. A real gift.

I like that. I thought about following a family home once. But they saw the axe in my hands and called the police.
