today is wrong

Confused, by Phil Burns

Confused, by Phil Burns

all of his life he feels the same way
yesterday lasts for far too long
tomorrow probably never appears
it is not only today that is wrong

a week can be a long slow ache
a year is often too short
a day at a time is the lesson he learns
that each heartbreak needs to be taught

a love blossoms in a moment
like that snow-flake on the river
and brings not only memories
but a pain that lasts forever

every second brings another thought
every beat he hears the blues
the sounds of sadness filter through
l
eaving him ever more confused

every month he plans to start afresh
he knows his calendar is outdated
for one minute he thinks he sees the truth
life becomes more complicated

all of his life he feels the same
yesterday lasts for far too long
tomorrow probably never occurs
today is the day he always gets wrong

  1. So uncharacteristically sad Dear Elephant. Beautiful in the telling though.
