I can write a poem
to describe the starlit skies
and to tell you how the moon affects
the lovers and the tides
I can write a love song
to describe a summer day
full of bright hued flowers and butterflies
and parks where children play
I can write a story
to describe a sweet romance
how we first kissed beneath a lamppost
and walked on golden sands
I can write a story
to describe how we found love
but comedy turns to tragedy
my words are not enough
I can write a love song
to describe your smiling eyes
how your hair blows wild in western winds
you think my words are lies
I can write a poem
to describe in rhyming verse
how you make me feel when you are near
but you don’t read my words
So aching, putting down with pen what is unsaid.

Lovely poem. AnElephant is very emotional and sweet when writing poems like this.

AnElephantCAN be tender and sweet. I hope one day she’ll read his words. Lovely poem.

This is beautiful.
Maybe she can’t read? She can listen to your lovely voice instead…

One thing for sure about poets, there is plenty of agony to go around.

Thank you for your kind words, Em.
And a poet can, of course, find heartache wherever he looks.

Absolutely beautiful my friend. Thank you for sharing your voice with us as well (my most loved accent in the world!). It’s given another dimension to your words. The last line is a touch of brilliance.

I don’t like pointing out favourites with peoples pieces … but … this was a very special piece. It glistens my friend.
