Click here to hear the poem read aloud:
perfect love song
the poet doesn’t believe you’d come back to him
even if he wrote the perfect love song
but he tries to create one anyway
in the hope you do just to prove him wrong
he tries to express things in romantic words
like Oor Rabbie and Will Shakespeare wrote
he wants to remind you of all the sweet things he said
which he is sure you already forgot
he wishes he could sing like Orbison
no one touches your heart quite like Roy
so the rivers of pain that run down his face
would transform into tears of pure joy
he could compose a magical musical treat
like that Canon by Pachelbel
perhaps then you’d forgive him at least some of his flaws
if he could just do one thing so well
perhaps he could write a great melody
or a truly magnificent symphony
but he still can’t believe you’d want to return
he prays you might just out of sympathy
you are the only girl who makes his heart dance
the only lady who has his soul captivated
you are the one who appears in every song
the inspiration for every poem he has ever created
A beautiful poem of unrequited love.

Beautiful writing Elephant. I’m sure your words would create beautiful music. I hope one day she hears before it’s to late. Hugs

AnElephantCant mention his own fantasies regarding the Beautiful Blonde!
But he fears his muse has long forgotten his existence.
Oh, he is happy that Bonnie enjoys his reading.

Dear Elephant,
If a heart has been shattered, can it be pieced back together? Sweet poem, bathed in tears.

AnElephant always writes the most wonderful poems that are just as lovely as any song. Truly, songs are poems set to a beat.
