Click here to hear the poet read his words:
the answer
don’t live your life she sternly said
until we can be together
you tell me you are on the road
don’t lie I know you better
her face is red her skin is blotched
her temperature is rising
frustration oozes from her pores
I find it unsurprising
women clamber on my wagon
thinking it’s the place to be
they hope that I’ll bring love and joy
free them from misery
I always try to do my best
I help whenever I can
but I can never be the answer
after all I’m just a man
Oui tout à fait (rire)
