the answer (to everything)*
I always knew she’d wait for me
her feelings never hidden
I always knew she’d wait for me
until at last she didn’t
I thought she was the one for me
that we’d always be together
I thought I was the one for her
that our love would last forever
I was restless and impatient
I thought she’d understand
and that no matter what I did
our life would always go as planned
I thought that I could take some time
knew she would never meddle
that she loved me just the way I was
and would wait for me to settle
I wasn’t seeking other loves
just some time to call my own
I liked to drift off randomly
and spend that time alone
always knowing that she’d wait for me
never thinking that she wouldn’t
always knowing that she’d wait for me
until at last she couldn’t
