we went to Scalpsie Bay
where the seals
feeding in the cold dark waters of the Clyde
clambered onto rocks
just to see you pass
and to Lighthouse Park
where the eagles and ravens
swooping in from the Salish Sea
or across from Vancouver Island
cried out from the treetops
in competition for your affection
and to the beach at Bonporteau
where the mermaids danced
in the breaking surf
of the magical Mediterranean
and beckoned for you to join them
and you remember with a smile
all of them
seals eagles ravens mermaids
but me
you have forgotten
since you said
with a shrug
I’m going
somewhere anywhere
